(from a June 2011 interview) "As the …school year (continues), we are working to connect with community centers and after-school programs in order to reach a broader base of young people and introduce them to this art form, " said Karen Gordon, JazzForKids program director.

Gordon hosted four JazzforKids: sing, clap, wiggle, shake! programs in December 2011 and January 2012 in the Aiken-Augusta area and traveled to Cheraw, SC, to present the program in two elementary school as part of the South Carolina Jazz Festival‘s education component. Gordon is currently accepting performance requests for April 2012, National Jazz Appreciation Month, and well into the summer.

Garden City Jazz presents several programs annually in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), providing performance opportunities for area musicians and music students, while promoting awareness of the historical and cultural significance of jazz music.
